James Rich has been behind a camera since he was in the 8th grade. He picked up his first camera when his father let him use a camera he brought back from the war in Vietnam. His love for photography grew over the years and he bagan shooting both family photos and sports photos.
Over the years, He has been blessed with the opportunity to photograph inside American Airlines Center, Cowboy Stadium and The Ball Park in Arlington. He has photographed teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars and more. I was also blessed to have been teaching a group of students in a Dallas Morning News summer program during the time the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Championship and assisted the students with following the Mavericks parade live from start to finish for the Dallas Morning News.
After finishing his degree in English with a minor in Journalism from Tarleton State University, James attended the University of North Texas where he received his certificaiton as a journalism teacher in the State Of Texas. Since then he has spent his time as a freelance photographer and photo instructor.
During his 14 years of teaching, his students have won over 300 national and state awards in photography and writing from various orgainzations. He has also had several students that have served internships with orgainzation such as The Dallas Morning News, Associate Press, New York times and various other news organizations. He currently has student working for Dave Campbell High School sports magazine, The Washington Redskins, Wall Street Journal, Channel 8 Tulsa Ok and more.
James has two children in college and has been married to his wife Lori for 22 years. Together they raise show horses. James' love for the horses has made way for him to photograph the beauty of the horse at various events and on ranches in Texas.
